Days away from January 1st!

Who's looking forward to the New Year?

I'm wondering if I'll have a difficult time remembering to write 2015 instead of 2014?

Is anyone up for writing every day in January?

How did you do in December? I'm still writing every day since I started over again in October with it. Taking it month by month seems to help a lot.

Oh! Did anyone give or receive a paper journal (diary / notebook / etc) this year at Christmas? Curious!

I've been writing pretty much every day in my journal, sometimes several times a day depending on what's going on. It's gotten to the point where I get anxious or otherwise don't feel "right" if I haven't journaled at all--it's where I brain dump or collect my thoughts otherwise. Definitely going to continue in January.

I received three paper journals for Christmas! So so SO happy!

Good on you, you're an inspiration to us all! Please post pictures of your new journals when/if you get a chance.

I received two blank Moleskines!

Definitely planning to write daily, and am in fact cleaning up my desk today so that there's room for everything.

I bought myself a Mini Reader's Journal for keeping track of books I read. I've been keeping track online via Dreamwidth and before that LJ, but I realized I've mostly just been listing titles and authors. I used to put a little comment or summary, but I've become so lazy online, mainly because there's so few people even bothering to read it.

But since I've wanted to get back to writing more often by hand, I thought this would be a good, non-pressure way of getting back in the groove. I don't think I can go back to regular journaling by hand. But aside from sheer laziness, I'm sure I can write down a title, an author, and a few thoughts on the books I read this coming year.

I've also realized that I read a lot of books and then I forget the details of what they were about and what I did or did not like about them. The internet has made my attention span AND my memory the capacity of a toddler's these days. (Or maybe I'm just getting old. Shhhh... let's not talk about that!)

I often sell books back to a bookstore, and I'm afraid at some point I will start re-buying books that I've already read, simply because I didn't keep track!

If you want to stay online with your book info, maybe try GoodReads where more people will read it? I'd love to add you as a friend/follow your reviews on there. I have the same problem with memory as you. I read The Maze Runner and last night I watched the movie- my husband kept asking me general questions about the book and I was just like "I have no idea, I don't remember, I just remember a basic outline of the story" because my memory is so fucked. It's depressing.

Maybe I will look into Goodreads more closely. I do make an account there, but I never got around to using it. It seemed a bit redundant since I kept the online journal. But maybe I'll give that second thought. Thanks.

I'd love if you could post about the new Q&A 3 year journal some day, or post a link to it maybe? Best of luck in 2015!

I failed the October challenge miserably but I'm willing to try again! I have my desk space cleared and organised now so perhaps this will help?

I feel that having my tools and area organized always helps me get things done. Good luck!

I'm still journaling every day, and am happy to keep up with these monthly challenges. :)

My brother gave me a journal. He would like me to use it to keep track of blessings and tender mercies, so I'm going to try. I also got an /amazing/ pen from my husband. A handmade (by a friend) steam punk pen. Love it!

Can you share a picture of that pen some day? Would love to see!

I'm on my 77th consecutive day of writing so I'm hoping to maintain momentum as we head into 2015. I have a few end of year things I like to write, which I'll be doing on 31st.

I received a beautiful leather bound notebook from a youtube subscriber for Christmas but I haven't decided how I'm going to use it yet. I have a pretty good stash of journals and I'm pretty picky about the type of notebook I like so I don't ask for the as gifts. I did get some money so I might buy some fountain pen inks in the new year.

If you ever feel like sharing in the new year, we'd all love to see your stash of your blank journals including the one you got for Christmas. Also can you recommend a decently priced fountain pen for a newbie to learn to use? I've never used a fountain pen before but I've always wanted to give them a try.

I was planning on doing a filled stack at least so I suppose I can add my unused to that!

I'd recommend a Lamy Safari. They come in a range of colours, encourage proper fountain pen grip and are really solid, good pens. I have 2 of them and a selection of nib spares in different sizes. To start, just use the medium they come with.

This year I wrote hardly at all: still haven't finished a palm-sized (smaller, even!) book I started late August. 4 months and it's still not finished! Before that I had a smaller-than-A6 book more than half a year.

I don't want to just write, though, I want to keep a sketchbook/journal/art journal/visual journal, which I guess is one reason I haven't been doing much - so daunting!

I didn't receive any, 'cause I make my own :)

Have you shared what your hand made journals look like on the community? If not, you should. :P

December has been a rough month for me in terms of time and energy at the end of the work day so I didn't write nearly as much as I wanted to. My goal for the new year is to write every day in 2015 but that's daunting so I'm going to break it down even less than monthly and try weekly goals to write every day. It's easier to look at when it's monthly so I'm hoping it will be easier again when it's broken down into one week chunks. (If I write the next seven days in a row I've met another goal, awesome!, sort of thing.)

I'm really looking forward to the new year because it's the end of the soul sucking vampire that is the holidays (I'm Scrooge McDucking over here, if you couldn't already tell). Also the feeling of new beginnings even though that might be a bit trite and an old-fashioned way of thinking.

I didn't receive a paper journal for Christmas and I'm a little bummed. I did get some washi tape and cute stamps to use though, which is nice.

I did okay in December. Better than I would have if I didn't try to do the challenge. I will try to write every day in January :). I received a journal for sinterklaas (we never do presents on christmas, just on sinterklaas which is a Dutch tradition). It's a nice purple moleskine but I am afraid of writing in it so I bought kind of an ugly notebook at Ikea to write in. It is actually going pretty well because I'm not afraid to ruin it.
