2013 Journals!

Hello, lovelies!

Starting January 1, I am going to create my Happy Book to share with my therapist, and to keep up with all year (and beyond, hopefully). I want to have a personal manifesto, a list of things that make me happy, make me happy, a list of things I like about myself, things I want to change, my bucket list, etc. etc.

I'm having a hard time finding a journal I want, though... I've been looking through Target and Moleskine, and EVERYWHERE... I'm just wondering what your favorites are so I can keep shopping! Thanks :)

Have you tried Barnes and Noble? They have a pretty good selection of journals. Also, if you are looking for handmade, try Etsy! :)
Good luck!

First - Target has a lot of journals. I discovered this while Christmas shopping.

Second - How is that personal manifesto going? How are you going about that? I am supposed to be writing one as well for my personal and spiritual journey, and I just...I truly don't understand how to begin. I would love to hear your take on it.

Words only, or words and pictures? I couldn't imagine a Happy Book without lots of color and all sorts of images glued in

A Moleskine sketchbook, with one page removed from the center of each signature, makes a great notebook for pasting in things. The pages are heavy enough to take the weight.

Otherwise, I'd say a regular Moleskine, just because they are convenient to carry around.

I don't have a favorite type of journal, but I love the whole Happy List idea, and just posted a bit of my own today, in fact. I wish the Happy List community here was still active. I wonder if there would be any interest in starting a new one?

I like the idea of things you like about yourself, too. That would be a helpful list of me to make as well.

I think the type of journal you choose is going to depend on whether it's going to be just writing, or include drawing, painting, or things pasted in, and of course size matters if you want to carry it with you. What I'm using for mine (started in October) is an awesome little 3x3x1 inch hardcover with thin pages. I like the tiny format so if I want to put just one thing on a page, I can. Good luck with your search and your journaling!

I actually found the PERFECT journal this morning! :3
What was the Happy List comm? I've never heard of it. I may just start one... Hm...

Ooooh, yummy! What did you choose?

I managed to find the old one I was thinking of:

A couple that are a little different, and still a tiny bit alive http://one-happiness.livejournal.com/

If you start one, I will definitely join. There might be an active one and I'm just not searching for the right key words.

I love these, thank you! I think I may start a "Happy Book" community -- It's something I've been working on and planning in therapy for ages! I'm so excited!

I found a journal at Marshalls for $4.99 this morning. It has a quote on the front by Emerson: "Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you."

I thought it was perfectly fitting!

Awesome! I LOVE reading other people's happy lists, because it usually reminds me of more things to be happy about.

Very cool! I wouldn't have thought of Marshalls as a place for journals, and that's a good price, too!

Marshalls and TJ Maxx both have great journals, and I don't think I have ever seen any over about $6.99.

I may work on the community tonight depending on how my thing goes with mission 101! Let me know via PM or something if you'd like to be involved :)

Oh, excellent! Not that I need a new journal, but it's nice to know where to get them cheap!

I've got too much on my plate right now to help co-mod or anything, sadly, but I will definitely join and do my best to help pimp it out!
