"While you were growing up, did you have your own bedroom, or did you share a room with others? Did you have a choice about how to arrange and decorate your room?"

I always had my own room, because I was the only son of my parent's three children, and oldest by quite a few years :) It wasn't until college that I had to share a room with a room mate, but it wasn't that hard to get used to.
I had creative control on how my room looked, as well. I had to keep it clean of course, but as far as decorations, and layout, I could do whatever I liked. I remember that most of my decorations consisted of band posters, some artwork by my friends or myself and destroyed (or maimed) toys, such as Barbie heads, and melted army men. I was definitely one of those little boys (I really related to Sid in Toy Story when I first saw it XD).
I also constantly changed the layout of my room. I switched it up about once every few months or so just because I loved the fresh and new feeling it gave me :)

I lived in a big old house with four bedrooms. I was an only child and had my choice of three. I moved from room to room. I had my choice of combinations of furniture. My mother loved to sew and often made new curtains for me.
I developed a life long love of working with the interior of my homes.

I shared a room until high school, maybe that is why my sis and I did not get along so well. Once I had my own room I decorated it and it looked so awesome if I do say so myself :)

I was the only girl in a house of little boys, so I always had my own room. My mom let me choose things for my room, somewhat, but it was never just how I would have wanted. She had the final say in the decorating - I'm much the same with my and my husband's house, now, so I get it, as an adult. :)

My first room was pink. I strongly disliked pink - that room didn't have a door on it and I needed to walk through my brothers' room to get to mine - it's now converted into a walk-in closet, if you can imagine that.

My second room was in a converted walk-in attic. The room was converted for me, so I was the first person to stay there, which I thought was kind of cool. I remember really really wanting navy blue walls. That never happened, but I did have blue carpet and blue striped wallpaper. (Along with some sun, moon and star wallpaper on a white background, kind of Lucky Charms-ish. It was the 80's, what can I say? I also had balloon shades on my windows. :))
