journal storage.

How many completed journals do you have? Where do you store them? Do you have all of your journals? If so, how many? If not, where are the rest?

omg I'm on my third bin of journals. There may be some in the attic also.
Regrettably, the ones I hand made and kept as a teenager and those I kept in college got left behind in my parents house and thrown out. Maybe that's just as well.
I have 50 years of journals. I kept intermittently until 1971.
Until 2000 they were words only. Then I began to also paint etc. in them instead of separately. I use about 13 sketchbooks a year.
Two years worth are in the book case. After that they go into a plastic bin. I'm about to need a new bin.

Wow. 50 years is really impressive, I hope I can journal for that long!

WOW. I hope that one day I might have that many. I've been keeping a journal fairly steadily since I was nine, and I'm twenty-seven now.

How fantastic! Would love to see your collection, if you would be willing to share.

Thank you
There really is nothing to share.
For all the years i wrote only, I used what ever size and kind of cheap notebook I could find, mostly spiral bound.
Since I switched to sketchbooks, they are all cheap spiral bound ones.
My journals are my private world.
The covers should reveal nothing.
Inside may be just the mundane recording of things I will need to know - what I bought where and how much I paid. When I got my hair cut. What I made for dinner that turned out well.
But, there may be more - thoughts, feelings, desires. The art work is always in that realm. I reveal myself to myself. I live in another dimension.
The joy of a journal is in having that totally private space.

I have all of mine, I think. I keep them in boxes but sometimes I put the most recent ones on shelves for quick reference.

I'm currently on my 10th. I've been writing these for nearly 4 years. The completed Embodiment journals (and I've kept all of them) go into a box on top of my wardrobe, and when I get my own place they'll either go into the loft or I'll buy a bookcase to keep them on. Depends how much space I have ^^;

I did keep diaries as a young kid, but (thankfully) most were thrown out. I think my mum still has some of my very early ones that resembled scrapbooks more than diaries, but she'd helped me out with those ones.

I've kept all of them. I began to journal at the age of 13 and completed a journal a year until I was more or less 24-25, so it makes at least 10-11 journals. Afterwards I wrote on and off (mostly off...) and I from these times (until last year) I've got maybe 3 journals. I've been journaling regularly again since Easter 2012.

Thirty-five, more or less completed. There's thirty-seven if you count the diaries I wrote in sporadically in early elementary school, thirty-eight if you count the one I'm writing in now.

I keep all of them stacked on top of my shoe storage, which is actually a white bookcase turned on its side. I still have all of them, too!

I've got about 170 hand-written books, and eight or so pressboard binders of typed/computer-printed entries. Right now, most of them are in boxes in storage, because we had to move abruptly, but usually they live on a bookcase beside my desk. I've been handwriting them since 1987, averaging about six to ten books per year.

I have all my journals I've ever kept since I was 7 years old, but it's not as many as you'd expect. It fills one book box. I recently went through reading some old ones thinking it'd be great and it was not. lol

I have a hard time throwing things out, though. I dunno. Sometimes I think I'd feel awesome if I just burned a bunch of them, and kept only the most recent ones. I really don't want anyone else going through them and I can't decide if I'll like looking at them once I'm old, like 80 or something. For now, they'll stay in a box.

I had thought about burning some of mine. I did get rid of one of my journals, just in that I was embarrassed by it when I was older. I regret doing this, but really struggled with getting rid of some of my high school journals, too. :/ What I have found is that time heals all wounds. I think in wanting to get rid of my journal, it was to distance myself from the person I was in that journal. I resisted and am glad that I did. I don't re-read my journals, anymore - less temptation.

I'm in the middle of volume 23 since I started in February 2009. So far, I have them all in a couple drawers of a big, old, metal filing cabinet. I have one drawer filled (volumes 1-20, conveniently enough) and am working on a second drawer. It'll probably be a couple years. But I might start doing plastic bins or something. Chests? Not sure. These are meant for posterity. I have them all; I'm really OCD about it all and would probably cry for days if something happened to any of them.
