Volume 10 - Travel Journal!

So, you might have noticed that I haven't actually posted a Volume 9 yet! I'm not quite done with that one, but I put so much work into my travel journal that I decided it needed its own number. I visited the US for a week, specifically Atlanta for Dragon Con. I went in 2011 and halfheartedly journalled when I got home. This time I was determined to journal while I was there!

Plenty of pictures under the cut!

Started: 26th August 2013
Finished: 4th September 2013 (well, a couple of days later because jet lag)

Volume 10 Cover
This was another from my stash that I bought from The Works. These journals are amazing and I wish I had more in the A5 size.

Volume 10 Thickness!
It was a bit on the chunky side when I got done with it. I stuck in all the little bits and pieces that came my way. I had to remove a few pages at the end to make it a bit more manageable.

Volume 10 Inside Cover
I made a thing for the inside cover!

Volume 10 Page 01
The start of my trip! I traveled down to London on a bus and then across London on the Underground. The bus trip was as boring as I expected.

Volume 10 Page 02
We moved from our first hotel to the one we'd stay in all week. Also, we took one look at the place we selected for breakfast and decided on Ihop instead.

Volume 10 Page 03
Buying MARTA tickets so we could get around Atlanta and a Dragon Con postcard!

Volume 10 Page 04
The Dragon Con flags are all around the Downtown area. And a complaint about price gouging. A short stack of pancakes that cost $4.99 on wednesday should not cost $10.99 on friday.

Volume 10 Page 05
Star Trek discussion and I fangirl over an author I like. I forgot to drag her paperbacks across from the UK so she agreed to sign my journal & told me to go to her signing anyway. She ended up giving me the new US hardback edition of her book.

Volume 10 Page 06
Stuff from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab. I've had some samples and loved them but the international shipping is a bit awkward.

Volume 10 Page 07
Always a lot of representation from NASA at Dragon Con. I made it to the Solar Observatory this time on pretty much the only sunny day.

Volume 10 Page 08
We had a shopping day and spent several hours at the Mall. I tried a Montblanc fountain pen and wished I had the money for one.

Volume 10 Page 09
There was an exhibition of Dutch paintings a couple of minutes walk from our hotel, including "Girl With A Pearl Earring". While none of us were particular art fanatics, we decided to make the most of a unique opportunity.

Volume 10 Page 10
Flying home to the UK, without any airport issues this time!

Well, back to finishing off my giant Volume 9. Oh, I also bought 5 new journals from Barnes & Noble on this trip.

Thanks! I don't normally do this so excessively when I travel but I was a bit annoyed at how much I forgot to note down after my last trip over to the US.

Thanks!

My nearest Works has just put out some squarer journals made by the same people with the same awesome paper. I'm having to force myself not to buy 8 of them.

It seems ok, the paper is the same as the other books which is important as it's so fountain pen friendly. I'm planning on using it as my next book (hopefully, unless I get distracted by another notebook first!).
