April 2014

My April diary. My challenge has been to move away from art journalling to journalling with more written content. I look back on my art journals and whilst they are lovely to look back on I a missing great chunks because there is no sense of my daily life in them. So that has been my aim, to write everyday and to record my daily life. I am still frightened of a page that is entirely writing and so always feel compelled to add a doodle or a sticker and some days I seem to need to stick way to much stuff in. I now have a box that holds all the stuff that I need to journal. Journalling has stopped being something that needed chunks of time and was messy and needed a flash of inspiration to a daily habit.

I love the way you've done your 'Books Read' page. Such a novel way of doing it!

I like your pages a lot. Nothing wrong with adding a sticker or other element. It livens things up a bit.

I'm an art journaler, too, and I can't bring myself to do an "all art" page. I have to write all over everything!

I really like your handwriting. :)

Your Game of Thrones page was a great idea!

This looks to have a great balance of art and text. It seems you are achieving your goal. Keep it up!

I really love the layout of your pages, particularly your book reviews <3

(also, I write upside down too! And diagonally, and sideways ... however's easiest to write! haha)

I love your journal. I like a mix of text and pictures/art and you have a nice balance. I especially like your book review pages.

The Game of Thrones 'whodunit' made me laugh. I don't think Sansa Stark killed Joffrey and will we ever find out if it was Oberyn Martell? Poor chap, he came to an horrendous ending!

I've been doing the same, trying to force myself to "write more, draw less" but I simply can't resist drawing a chibi or two or adding a sticker... It's been a challenge and has so far led to me having a text-only (with a few stickers/small cartoons) and a separate art journal. I'm not sure yet how I feel about it being that way but it's a challenge, so we'll see. I do seem to so far achieve my goal of having more written content about my life, but I'm finding myself wondering about it (well, worrying)...

Your "What I Wore Today" page is so cute! I love to draw those in my Journals!
