July 01-15

Hey guys, hope everyone is having a lovely July so far and enjoying the sun!

I had such wonderful and positive responses to my last post, I thought I'd share a little bit more with you guys about what I've been up to this month. Initially, my plan was to wait until the end of July and make one big entry, but the urge to share has been just too much for me to handle!

The first little bit of this entry was actually in my last post. It was day one of my parents trip to the States, leaving me at home with the dogs to fend for ourselves. It's a pretty pointless post, mainly just me musing about what I was going to feed myself for the next few days and things I wanted/needed to spend my money on. On the right, we have my shopping list and a set of tasks for that morning.... Spoiler alert: I forgot to buy the deodorant.

Bring your own sunshine :) A good message to carry with me, considering most days I bring my own rain cloud. I was having a nice, quiet night just relaxing with my dogs (sans boyfriend, who is very distracting to try to write around). Paragraph two is the slightly mortifying experience we'd had in the grocery store earlier when the machine at the checkout didn't read my debit card the first time I ran it. Paragraph three is about all the noise my dog was making about cuddling on the couch before bed (his nightly routine with my dad).

Skipping over a few pages, we get to July 05. My boyfriend and I saw 'Inside Out' and enjoyed it immensely. We'd both had trouble sleeping a few nights before, which thankfully resolved itself. The plans my friends and I were trying to put together to go out to a new restaurant fell through for the umpteenth time. Also, planning dinner for the night my sister would be staying with me. The sticker in the left hand corner is also from the MAMBI set that I mentioned last post. Ying and Yang koi fish because life is about balance and harmony...and because they remind me of Tui and La from The Avatar.

A word to the wise: DO NOT eat Doritos before bed. I had the strangest, most uncomfortable sleep...Which put me in an anxious state the next morning. I'm a basket case when it comes to anything school related, so the anticipation of selecting courses the next day was practically giving me palpitations. On the right we have a really cool depiction of Castor and Pollux, which has special meaning for me, being a Gemini.

Words to live by. I'm constantly trying to remind myself to be brave and not let anxiety hold me back. To the right is part one of a journal meme I found online and decided to try my hand at. A journal entry about journaling...how meta.

On the last day of my parents' trip, my dog randomly vomited up blood. Cue panic attack and immediate visit to the vets. They didn't find anything physically wrong with him, citing stress from missing mom and dad and maybe eating something he shouldn't have in the yard as probable cause. Either way, the little stinker was right as rain after that, but got special gastro food to settle his tummy just in case. And a fox because I love foxes.

I bought a FujiFilm Intax Mini 8 camera and spent the whole entry rambling on about how amazing it is (seriously, it's awesome). To the right, we have...a lovely representation of our home and native land. My friend posted this to her instagram for Canada day and I managed to not see it until the 9th. The maple leaf bra is a nice touch.

I really wish I knew how to style my hair into elegant braided buns. So pretty. The entry is just some pretty boring discussion about how slow work was that night.

And now for the close ups:

Thanks :) My journal is by an American brand called Studio Oh! and they call it an "XL" size. The dimensions are 7.0" by 9.5", so I think that would place it just in between the size of an A5 and A4.

I had a minute where I literally stood there alternating between making weird panicky noises and hysterically asking him what was wrong. He looked at me like I'd grown a second head the whole time. He's a tough little cookie.

Congratulations on your degree! That's awesome :) I know that feeling, though. When I was diagnosed with depression I was like "No, that can't be right. I'm not depressed. There are so many other people out there who have it way worse than me. I'm not allowed to say I'm depressed when they have real reasons to feel this way." But it is what it is and it's better to acknowledge how you feel, rather then trying to sweep it under the rug or play it off, you know? Do you think maybe why you feel down is linked to getting your degree? I'm one of those people who don't handle change well, so any major event like graduating freaks me out.

Hope your doggie is doing ok now. As someone who used to have a labrador, I know they can sometimes do stuff that freak us out and they're absolutely fine.

He's back to his usual happy-go-lucky self, thankfully :)

My family had a lab when I was little and my parents said that he was a handful when he was a puppy because he was constantly getting into things and eating stuff he shouldn't have, but luckily he managed not to kill himself and lived to the ripe old age of 15. I just learned this year that labs are considered a trickier breed to raise because they have a compulsion to chew things and are high energy/need constant mental stimulation. Was your dog a chewer?

Labs definitely need a lot of mental stimulation!! Right up until he passed away at 12 he needed plenty of walking. Not so much in the last few months but he would go for 5 miles a day and still ask for more. He chewed a lot when he was a puppy and especially when he was teething but once he was an adult he only chewed his toys. Oh yeah, labradors will destroy all those "indestructible" toys.

Great dogs though :)

Thank you so much for sharing! As I said before, I love your journaling style!

Also, if you still have it, would you mind sharing the link for the journaling meme? I kind of want to try it!

Thanks!! :D

I found the journal memehere. I was actually inspired by another meme (that I can't find now) and went in search of it. Google turned up this :)

Thank you!

The silly thing is that I've done it before and should've learned my lesson that time, but no, I thought I'd try my luck again :/

This is absolutely gorgeous!
Can't wait to scroll down and see your previous post. I haven't logged in in ages, so I still haven't seen it.
You're so GOOD!

Wow, thank you so much! I'm really glad you like it :D It's kind words like yours that make me want to keep at writing (especially right now when I feel like I'm in a slump) and keep sharing. Thank you again :)
